At Greenhouse Learning we love to celebrate people, companies and websites that will help children to grow their brains. If you have any suggestions then please do drop us a line on the "Get in touch" page.
- Joe Wickes is doing a daily PE lesson for school children, every morning from 9am.
- Scratch 2 is a wonderful application that allows children to learn how to code. I have used this with year 2 and upwards to make games.
- Many schools subscribe to Purple Mash. This website is the holy grail for teachers as it covers all curriculum areas. My favourite app is the 2sequence app, in which you can make musical scores by dragging and dropping instruments. See if your child has a login for it.
- Mrs Green runs a website called "The Magical Lair of the Craft Pixies" which details dozens of art and craft activities for children. Find her on Facebook.
- Literacy Shed has loads of great stimuli to get children writing creatively.
- You could also use Pobble 365's picture of the day to inspire children to respond in a creative way.
- The White Rose Maths Hub is an invaluable free resource to help children think about maths in a deeper and more thought provoking way. Questions range from fluency to reasoning and problem solving.
- Audible has made a selection of children's audiobooks available for free. Mr Green uses audible regularly and thoroughly recommends it.
- The N-Rich website has lots of fabulous maths activities and investigations on it. It can be difficult to navigate but it is well worth digging through.
- British Sign Language (BSL) are running free courses for people under 18. For over 18s it is a 'pay what you can' system during the Coronavirus pandemic.
