Have a look at a door in your house. It could be your front door, your bedroom door, your wardrobe door or your fridge. It might be the door to your rabbits' hutch, or where the electric meter is kept. Choose one and look at it.
Describe the door in detail. The size of it. The colour of it. The details. What it is made of? Is it clean or dirty? Is it old or new? Big or small? Now, imagine that you can walk (or squeeze) through that door and end up somewhere else entirely. What place might you end up in? Can you describe that place? How does it compare to where you have just left? How do you feel about that place? Have a go at writing about your adventure through the magic door, from the ordinary into the extraordinary. Your job, here, is to write imaginatively to entertain somebody. Think about who you might wish to entertain. A child younger than you? Somebody your age? A grown up? Have fun writing! Please feel free to share it with us!
