Yesterday, you traced and coloured Toby the puppy. Did you enjoy that? We've had some really positive feedback so we thought you might like to have a go at another of our furry friends. This is Toshiko and she is our rabbit. She enjoys eating Mrs Green's paintbrushes and sometimes the curtains... she's a bit naughty, but we love her dearly. You may choose to simply print her out and colour her, or for an extra tricky task, you could trace her first. You can download a printable version of this on Pixie Rae's website.

Dear parents, Today we are going to play a speech and language game that is also excellent for training the short term memory. You may have heard of this one before. It is called “I went to the shops and I bought...” Enjoy! - Greenhouse Learning x
Dear Parents, Today, children will practise drawing squares, rectangles, triangles and circles and counting to ten. For the first three, this is an excellent opportunity to get to grips with using a ruler for a straight edge. Show them how to do it, make sure they are holding it firm. The skill will really help them going into the infants. I hope they have fun learning this new skill and consolidating their shape and number knowledge. Greenhouse Learning x
Mr and Mrs Green love Toby the puppy with all our hearts. He's a sweet dog who loves to play. Do you love to play too? Here is a colouring in sheet to print out a make pretty. Why not have a go at tracing it onto some paper too?
Dear parents,
Today's English exercise is a creative one to get your little ones thinking about the nature of characters. If they have been following our learning since last week, they know the characters in Noah's Ark, Goldilocks, and Little Red Riding Hood quite well by now. Today's task requires them to think about what it would be like if the characters met. They should have fun coming up with stories, ideas and scenarios. Let them be playful and prompt them with creative questions in the spirit of a 'story mash up'. Enjoy! Greenhouse Learning x Last week, we learned about Noah and his Ark, about Goldilocks and the Three Bears and about Little Red Riding Hood. Today, I want you to imagine that the people in all three stories meet each other. This is called a 'story mash up' because we are mashing three stories together. How would Noah cope with three bears when he likes his animals to come in twos? Would the Woodcutter be friends with Noah? What would they do together? Imagine Goldilocks was in the same class as Little Red Riding Hood at school. Would they be friends? What would they talk about? What would baby bear say to Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother? And would the Big Bad Wolf try to eat the Three Bears? Draw a picture of your story 'mash up'. Dear Parents, Today, children will learn all about shape. Some children may already know the names of basic shapes, such as triangles, circles, squares and rectangles. If this is the case, prompt them by asking them how many sides or corners a particular shape has. Properties of shape is a key stage one objective, so you will be getting ahead of the game. The activity will need a piece of paper, a pencil and something to colour in with. Enjoy! Greenhouse Learning x
Pixie Rae has outdone herself this time! These Pom Pom Aliens are amazing! And they are so easy to make. All you need is: a pair of scissors, a couple of toilet roll tubes, a ball of colourful wool and a fork. Head to The Magical Lair of the Craft Pixies to see how to make these friendly alien invaders! In Early Years, the forming and recognising of letters and sounds is massively important. Today, I would like you to play a phonics game with your child. Here is a selection of alien cards with sounds on them. There is a version attached as a PDF that includes blank cards that you can write other sounds on. First, see if your child can say the sound on the card. Then, see if your child can say any words with that spelling of the sound. Many sounds such as ‘ew’ have other spellings such as ‘oo’. Finally, your child could try to spell any words with the sound on the cards.
Dear Parents, One of the big skills children must learn early on in their school lives is not just how to count, but how numbers relate to one another. Children should have an understanding of what comes before and what comes after numbers. This task will hopefully help children to identify one more and one less than given numbers. We hope it is useful. As usual, your script is below. Greenhouse Learning x
Our sister website, The Magical Lair of the Craft Pixies, posted this wonderful idea that not only gets children arty, it gets them active too!
Yesterday, Mr and Mrs Green went for a lovely walk in the woods. Don't worry, we didn't see a big, bad wolf! We did see plenty of leaves, sticks, berries and petals, though, so we decided to take them home with us. Mrs Green arranged them all and used them to make a nature collage. She spotted that one of the shapes looked like the gnashing jaws of a flying dinosaur, so she made the rest of the dinosaur using the other bits and pieces we had picked up. She also made a beautiful summer's dress out of flowers and leaves, with a matching petal hat! Why don't you have a go too! |
